De Catskill à Wappinger Creek

Notre fils chéri parti, nous retournons la camionnette chez Entreprise, réglons nos comptes avec Riverview Marine Services, et nous poursuivons notre route, laissant progressivement derrière nous les belles montagnes Catskill qui ont inspiré les peintres Cole et Church notamment. Nous revoyons avec plaisir les très beaux phares du fleuve Hudson.

Un peu après 17 heures, nous arrivons à Wappinger Creek à la recherche d'un ancrage. Nous approchons un voilier amarré à une bouée de mouillage pour lui demander conseil à ce sujet. Il nous suggère de nous amarrer à la bouée voisine dont le propriétaire est décédé récemment. Ce que nous nous empressons de faire. Le courant nous pousse d'un côté, la marée montante de l'autre. On passe une bonne nuit après avoir admiré un coucher de soleil somptueux !

Our dear son gone to Montreal, we bring the truck back to Entreprise, pay our bills at Riverview Marine Services, and continue our trip, leaving behind us the beautiful Catskill Mountains, that have inspired many artists, like Cole and Church. 
And it is with pleasure that we see again the beautiful lighthouses of the Hudson River.  

Shortly after 17:00, we arrive at Wappinger Creek, looking for a place to drop anchor for the night. We get close to a sailboat on a mooring to ask for advice.  He suggests that we tie up to the mooring ahead of his.  The owner of this mooring died recently.  So we did just that.  The currant is pushing us one way, the rising tide the other.  We have dinner in the cockpit , watching the sunset setting the sky ablaze !
