De Cay en Cay/ From Cay to Cay (Abacos)

Nous sommes ensuite parti rejoindre Rivendell à Man O'War Cay...

We left Lake Worth and were motor-sailing on the Straight of Florida at 05:00 on the 12th of January. East winds, and waves on the nose all the way to Mangrove Cay where we anchored at 20:00 under the stars, at the same time as another boat.
The next morning, we motored to Great Sale Cay and dropped the hook at lunchtime. We spent the rest of the day motoring around the anchorage in the dinghy, and we had our first bahamian swim !
Late afternoon, 2 other sailboats anchored for the night.
We got up early the next day to get to Green Turtle Cay before dark.  We did but we had to wait until the next morning to clear custom and get a new Sim card and minutes for our cell phone.
We left to join Rivendell moored in Man'O War Cay, and arrived there at mean low tide (below chart data). We managed to get grounded at the entrance of the mooring field. On the bright side, we got invited for a drink on Dickies's Cay and enjoyed the sunset from their guest house on the sea of Abaco.  After that, we paid a visit to Rivendell (who had gone ashore earlier) and came back on Nomades. Christian dropped  the anchor to prevent Nomades from drifting to shore with the rising tide.  When we were finally able to free Nomades, it was past 21:00, and dark.  John and Catherine came by dinghy and guided us to a red mooring ball near their boat.  It is amazing how close to moorings are to one another.  I would say to close for confort but we had a good night sleep.
The next morning, after Rivendell left, we went ashore to visit Man O' War Cay. We followed Marcia's advice (Troubadour) and hiked north on the Queen's Highway.
It was worth it.  At some point, you can see sea-to-sea (the Atlantic and the Sea of Abaco) !  Marcia and Barry came on board for Happy Hour. We enjoyed their company and hope to see them again in the future.
After filling up with fuel, water, we went across to Marsh Harbour , and anchored close to Mangoes Marina where Rivendell was docked .  We almost lost the dinghy shortly after anchoring had it not been from Pierce (Webisabi) who rescued it.  He came along with his wife Ruth after dinner and we spent an enjoyable evening chatting.  In the meantime, I did laundry at Mangoes in Catherine's company.
Christian paid a long visit to the dentist today.  After wich we had tea and a delicious banana bread from Rivendell's oven with Catherine and John.
