Ça souffle fort à Port Lucaya (Grand Bahama) ! It's blowing in Port Lucaya (Grand Bahama)!

We left Vero Beach shortly after breakfast. In the meantime, we had to replace 8 batteries. Many thanks to Yves and Madeleine who transported us back and fro Fort Pierce with the batteries.  Thanks also for Mike , the certified marine electrician, who answered our call promptly  and diagnosed the problem with competence and help us find new ones. We arrived in Lake Worth at sunset. We dropped the hook for a few hours to have dinner, and to finish preparing Nomades for the crossing to Port Lucaya (Grand Bahama) . A first for us!  We we lifted anchor, the chain pipe stripper broke , meaning that the captain had to bring the anchor up slowly and  with great effort until we get a replacement from Vancouver (BC) .At 23:00 we were on our way to Port Lucaya, a new destination for us under an almost full moon.

We arrived at around noon at the Port Lucaya Marina, after enjoying the sun rise on the ocean. The last 4-5 hours on the ocean were harder with winds rising from 4-6 knots to over 24 knots with waves in all directions.

Nomades à Port Lucaya /Nomades Port Lucaya Marina
On reste donc ici jusqu'à demain.
We cleared customs and immigration. We got our cruising and fishing permits. We were set to go today but because of strong winds , and uncertain weather we postponed our departure for tomorrow.

De Fernandina Beach à Vero Beach/ From Fernandina Beach to Vero Beach, FL

We left home on January 4th, and arrived in Fernandina Beach on the 7th. We escaped the freezing rain as we left Annapolis (MD) a day earlier then we had expected.  We arrived in a deep fog in Fernandina Beach where Rivendell (John & Catherine) a reserved a room for us at the Day's Inn on Sadler St. We stayed there 4 nights as we had brought the freezing weather with us. Alas!
The cold weather hindered our launch preparations.

We were happy to see the sea again !

It took us almost a month to launch Nomades with the mast restepped, a new pro-furl for the staysail, a new coat of paint on the keel, etc.

A heavy fog delayed our departure for a day. It is under a cloud cover, and some light rain, that we finally cast off. Our first night at anchor, was at Pine Island, on the Tolomato River.
The next day, we pass the Bridge of Lions in St Augustive after a half hour wait and kept on going until Daytona, where we drop the hook for the night at sunset.

Up before dawn, we left Daytona, to go to Honeymoon Lake , west of the ICW, and spent a quiet night at anchor, not so cold as the night before.  Same scenario, the next day, where we reach Vero Beach, early afternoon, with Yves and Madeleine to help us at the fuel dock.
After a good dinner, at their Sebastian's refuge, we spent a quiet night at the number 1 mooring of the Vero Beach City Marina!
We intend to leave tomorrow for either Fort Pierce or Lake Worth to wait for a weather window to cross to the Bahamas !
