De retour sur l'Intracoastal.../ Back on the ICW....

NB:  An English Summary follows the French Edition:

On a passé outre.

White Bird of Paradise
Pelican Plant

During our stay in Fort Pierce, we went to Vero Beach's Flea Market where Christian bought a new fishing rod and some tackle in the hope of catching fish other then barracudas next year. He did catch a "blow fish" with the sling in the Bahamas . Gilles had a good laugh at the sight !  We also found a new clock for Nomades at Marine Liquidators.

We left Fort Pierce on the 29th of April to go to Vero Beach, a few miles north.  It felt strange to motor-sail on the dark brown water on the ICW after the clear turquoise water of the Bahamas, and the deep ocean blue of the Florida Straight.  But it is always a pleasure to tie up to a mooring at the Vero Beach Municipal Marina.  We miss Yves and Madeleine who are back home, getting Sous l' vent ready for launch.  We filled up with diesel and water, and went to the beach !
The next day, we rented a car with Heure Bleue at Entreprise for the day.  The guys dropped Florence and I at the McKee Botanical Garden that we had discovered on our first visit here with Yves and Madeleine.  We were lucky to see an exhibition of Godo Fräbel Glass Works (longfellows, birds, abstract butterflies , cube etc. )  adding a playful note to the paths of the Garden , that we explored umbrella in hand.

Florence and I had lunch at the Garden Café during a downpour...salmon, cucumber and capers tea sandwiches.
Added two plants to my botanical knowledge:  the white bird of Paradise and the pelican plant...the latter catches flies and smells bad!

We are now a day late from our last year calendar.  We will leave Vero Beach tomorrow on our way to either Cocoa Beach or Titusville.
