Black Point (Exumas)

Avant de quitter les Abacos, nous avons visité Hope Town (Elbow Cay) que nous n'avions pas vu l'hiver dernier, avec son joli phare rouge et blanc.

Nous avons essuyé au moins 5 averses pendant la traversée à Eleuthera , une traversée rapide... en moins de 7 heures, à la voile-moteur.

Nous avons ensuite fait escale à Warderick Wells. Une île qu'on aime beaucoup.  Nous nous sommes amarrés au coffre numéro 22, le dernier du mouillage nord, le mieux protégé des vents et de la houle.
Notre avions comme voisin,Ishmael, un trimaran canadien que nous avions croisé à quelques reprises en cours de route. Nous sommes allés les saluer le lendemain.
Nous avons poursuivi notre exploration de l'île et de ses belles plages sans rencontrer âme qui vive.
De là, nous sommes allés à Staniel Cay , et Big Major ou nous avons fait le plein de diesel, et d'eau . Nous avons aussi quelques produits maraîchers à l'épicerie bleue.
Et nous voilà rendus, quelques milles plus loin, à Black Point, ou se trouve la meilleure buanderie des Bahamas.  La propriétaire Ida, fait des beignets de lambis délicieux, ainsi qu'un gâteaux aux carottes savoureux.  On n'a pas résisté à la tentation.
Aujourd'hui, nous sommes allés nous balader dans l'île.  On a rencontré un couple de francos-québécois (Gilles et Florence) et on est allés ensemble aux bigorneaux... au menu de l'apéro de ce soir.

Before leaving the Abacos for Eleuthera, we visited Hope Town (Elbow Cay), where we hadn't been last winter. We visited its pretty red and white lighthouse.  The view from the top is worth the climb!We then motored to Lynyard Cay , where we had a long way on the ocean side and a swim on the bank side.  At sunset the next morning, we were off to cross to Eleuthera... a wet 7 hours crossing with a beautiful rainbow and dolphins along the way.  We anchored in Royal Island and spent two nights there before heading to the Exumas across the Flemming Channel.  We had the sun in our eyes as we were zigzaging on the Exuma Bank to avoid the coral heads, Christian at the helm, and I, on the bowsprit . For a few minutes, a young dolphin was swimming back and forth under my feet.  Wonderful!  We dropped the hook at Highbourne Cay, close to the beach.  We enjoyed the beach while we were there.  Next port of call was Hawksbill Cay, part of the Exuma Land and Sea Park. 
Then Warderick Wells where we moored in the north anchorage, close to Ishmael, a canadian trimaran. We finally met them the next day.  
After two nights there, we went to  Staniel Cay where we filled up with diesel and water and then dropped the hook near Pirates's beach at Big Major.  We also bought milk and produce at the Blue Grocery.  Checked e-mail at the yacht club ! Enjoyed the beach, by ourselves and then with Ishmael and Mistress .  We are now anchored at Black Point (facing the laundromat, the best in the Bahamas) with free internet, delicious conch fritters, and a tasty carrot cake.  
Met a French couple on our way to see the blow holes and went with them instead to pick up some sea snails for Happy Hour on Nomades .We learned from Florence and Gilles (Heure bleue, a Hans Christian 38')  wich ones to pick and how to cook them. It was quite a treat !
